Defensive Tackle
Defensive tackles are line up in front of the center and guards of the offensive line. Because of this they are usually much bigger than defensive ends, and some players can exceed 320 lbs. They play an important role in stopping the run and also contribute to the pass rush. Teams using a '4-3' defense use two defensive tackles and one less linebacker. The 3-4 defense has grown in use in the NFL as it puts more linebackers on the field and features only one massive nose tackle in the middle of the defense.
